Juan Chrisostomo Hurtado (1722-) & my first Spaniards?

Hello,

My name is Vanessa Lopez and this is my first post. My paternal grandmother's line was relatively easy to trace through Zacatecas and Jalisco. I worked diligently to build her family tree in preparation for an upcoming family reunion in May. Every once in a while, I like to just google an ancestor. I did just that for Juan Chrisostomo Hurtado (1722-) and to my surprise, I discovered this amazing tree, https://www.wikitree.com/genealogy/Hurtado%20de%20Mendoza-Family-Tree-11, which extended back to Spain (a first for me in all of my 7 years of research.) I would like help in any of the following ways...

Do we share common ancestors based on this (unconfirmed) wiki tree? How do you feel about wiki trees in general? I am considering opting for a pro-genealogist to confirm this wiki tree information because 1300s Spanish genealogy is way beyond my capabilities.

Are you related to me (based on the attached tree segment)? I have my DNA on Ancestry and GedMatch ready for comparison.

What kinds of records are common in Spanish genealogy? I can read Spanish, but I'm only familiar with Mexican records and history.

Thanks for reading!

-Vanessa

García Family, Teocaltiche, JAL

I was hoping that someone within this community may have some more information on this family pre-1850s.

From my own family (and confirmed through Ancestry.com), I knew about Pedro García and his wife Maria Refugio Aguilera (1816-1901), both from Teocaltiche, Jalisco. Through one of their children's marriage certificates, I found their parents from both sides: Lorenzo García and Agapita de la Paz, and Juan Nepomuceno Aguilera (b.1775) and Maria Rosa Aguilera (b.1790).

I'm not sure if Ancestry.com is lacking in Mexican historical records, or if this time period just gets tricky to find information for. But I have not been able to find anything for Lorenzo García and Agapita de la Paz, except for their grandchild's marriage certificate they are mentioned in. Not a single record...

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Where is the "Inbox" of NuestrosRanchos?

I have messaged others, but either I have had something go wrong with my browser, or there is not a simple inbox for messages between members.
Thanks.

P.S. is anyone else getting this PHP error screen like I am? I get something similar to it on every NR page i visit.

Diego de Estrada (son of Diego de Estrada) & Sebastiana Montano - Dispensation Record - 1724

Hi Everyone,
Here's the dispensation record for Diego de Estrada II and Sebastiana Montaño dated 1724.

This doc shows the link between the Estradas, Cortez, Montaños, Gomez de Espejo, and Ruiz de Velasco.

From their union, you get the Muños de la Barba and Gutierrez connection.
Diego de Estrada and Sebastiana Montaño's (1708-1753) children, two that I have verified, were:

Luisa Rosalia de Estrada m.1756 to Luis Antonio Muños de la Barba (Juan Muños de la Barba & Juana Hernandez)

Nicolas de Estrada m.1753 María Magdalena Gutierrez (Lucas Gutierrez & Manuela Delgado)

Hope this helps.

Joe

Antonio (Cano) de Nava y Estrada

I was wondering if anyone knows anything about this person or persons.
There are several marriage entries in "Asuncion, Mexico, Distrito Federal, Mexico" with the name "Antonio de Nava y Estrada" as a groom. One has the inclusion of "Cano" as a surname. The marriage entry dates are 1643, 1654, 1659. *see pics

Can anyone shed some light on this person(s).

Thanks,
Joe

Diego de Estrada

I have some new info on Diego de Estrada who was married to Antonia Gomez de Espejo Velasco.
The documents are from a marriage dispensation for Manuel Avino & Maria de Jesus Cortes. Maria was the daughter of Yfigina de Estrada and Yfigina was the daughter of Diego de Estrada. It seems to mention that Diego's mother was Ana de la Barba.

Could someone please help with the translation.

Thx,
Joe

Margarito Torres 1933 death registration La Blanca

Margarito Torres of La Blanca Zacatecas was my great grandfather. I found his death registration but I'm having a hard time reading it. I think this document contains other information that will help me trace back my ancestry further. I have attached the death registration and was wondering if any of you can help me read what it says. I thought his parents were Cristoval Torres and Teresa Morales, but I think this document says that they are his grandparents. Is that correct?

Thanks in advance!
