Interesting...I found some of my family in Fresnillo films as
well as Sombrerete, if you need me to do any look-ups for you let me
know.   Contact John Schmal he is the historian for Somos Primos and he
and I had done some research together and he knows the scoop on the
records that are missing.  For some reason I remember him telling me
these records can be found in Las Cruces, New Mexico.  John runs the
Family history center and also teaches classes at the local Santa
Monica, CA branch.  Let me know if you need his email address.  I think
you told me you have it.    - Carol

I just today found out that my Puente[s] line was only temporarily in

Sombrerete and origianlly was from Zacacetas, Zacatecas. Woe is me if

those records are not to be

Zac/Zac: Que Paso con los Anos 1679 - 1839

It was Zacatecas, Zacatecas records that were missing. Here is John
Schmal's email to me on the subject:

"HI
Joseph:  Friends of mine travelled to Zacatecas a couple years ago.
Those missing records were somehow destroyed. General Santa Anna sacked
the city of Zacatecas around 1835, which may have destroyed some of the
records, but there was also a fire, so they are apparently lost
forever, most unfortunately.

Sorry, I couldn't give you good news.  The Matrimonio Informacion
records are available, so they must have been stored somewhere else.
But regular marriage and baptisms aren't in  existence any longer.

John Schmal"

I would, also, be interested in the missing Sombrerete records. My
great grandmother was born there and I believe her parents were,
also, born there. Her name was Ynes Salas [b: about 1845]. Her
parents were Jose Maria Salas and Urbana Ruelas. I can't go any
further back at this point.

Map or Explanation

Hi Joseph, just FYI, I would try ebay.  I was thinking about buying my dad some old antique maps but I'm just not sure which one yet.  If you get on ebay do a search under maps, old and or antique maps.  There have been many reproductions of these older maps and some of them are under $12.00.  Also they have old maps of Spain too.   Carol
