Ray,
Unfortunately, I don't see Jauregui or Iniguez in the
Plan General de
la Obra. The spelling of the names are standardized
throughout his
books. However, that doesn't mean they won't be
included in the new
edition. I understand he's including some new
surnames. Does anyone
know what additional surnames will be
included?

If you look up the surnname in the Mormon database, a large percentage of Iniquez people in Southwest Europe are from the Basque Countries. In addition, there is a reference in one of the message boards to Iniquez and a French person. See http://genforum.genealogy.com/iniguez/messages/1.html. This would not be unusual since the French Basques and Spanish Basques had much in common, as did the French Catalonians and Spanish Catalonians. Spain is a nation but there are many dissenters still; the Basques and Catalonian are passionate about their lands and people. The French Catalonia area is just as much

Subject: [ranchos] Southern California meeting
Date: Thu, 15 Dec 2005 04:29:11 -0000
Hi all! I just thought I'd write to ask who may be interested in a
Southern California or maybe even a Central California meeting.
Since I was so impressed with the Sacramento meeting, I would like
to arrange something similar, since I'm sure there are many members
who would like to meet in the Southern California region.
Please tell me the following:
1. Do you prefer a meeting in the Los Angeles area or Central
California, as someone suggested in a previous message, so that
members in Northern California could meet us?
2. Is January or February the best month for you?
If I can get ideas as to timing and interest, I can then offer
choices.
Thanks!
Rosalinda

I would try; it depends on the date. I live in Rancho Cucamonga in southern
California (just west of San Bernardino and about 60 miles east of Los
Angeles).

Hello Maria:Do you can search for "Gonzalez Morçillo (or Morzillo)" surname in your copy of Tomo I, of the book mentioned? Thanks, very much.JRGL.Mexico City.

Some families do extend to other states, so you might find some of
your ancestry covered in one of
the chapters. I have a copy of Tomo
I which contains a "Plan general de la obra" for all the subsequent
Tomos (II - VI) and has all the surnames covered. If anyone wants me
to check for any surnames send me an e-mail.
Each chapter begins with the first settlers and then traces their
male descendancy. Sources are cited for every bit of data.

Hello Jose, I would guess that surname would be a variation of Gonzalez Hermosillo. That is very common in Los Altos. If that's the case then, yes, Gonalez de Hermosillo is planned for Tomo III. Hi John, Only Tomo I and II were published. Tomo II covers Aceves to Gomez- Hurtado de Mendoza. Gonzalez de Hermosillo (from Jalostotitlan and Tepatitlan) was planned for Tomo III. Hello, I just wanted to see if the name Pedro Pineda/o in Tlaltenango, Zacatecas meant anything to anyone, or that of his wife Pioquinta ____dosa. I found a record a few weeks ago that has helped me further along in my own Pineda research...please review the names and let me know if they intersect with any of your research. As far as I know, they were all born in Tlaltenango Thanks. 1 Pedro Pineda/o + Pioquinta ____dosa 2 Nicanor Pineda/o (b 1884) + Emilia Gonzalez (b 1897 to Juan Gonzalez & Dolores Arteaga) 3 Jesus Maria Pineda (b 1930 in Laredo, Texas) Thanks and I hope to hear from you. Yes, Joseph, it's something to celebrate----our ancient RNA/DNA calling to
us to find each other. Sure, I'd make capirotada, but I prefer posole to
menudo since I don't like tripa---I prefer pork shoulder. I could skip the
lengua and cabeza (eeww---mad cow disease).
We are in Las Vegas, and at the first opportunity we found a good Mexican
restaurant, Diego's at the MGM. It was great--a guy made fresh guacamole at
our table, and the food was so good. I had the green chile tamales (made
from fresh corn) a Tesoro margarita (smooooth), chiles rellenos; my husband
had tacos al carbon (garlic-lime marinated skirt steak, etc on a soft corn
tortilla); three

Hi Joseph:
Tough assignment, trying to determine which
states are covered on this "Nueva Galicia" map. The boundries are not well defined. I'll give it a try. The map covers the area
of Mexico from about 23 degrees North latitude to about 18 degrees North latitude. If you look at a modern map of Mexico, you'll see the following States are inside this area: Nayarit, southern part of Sinaloa, Jalisco, Michoacan, Guerrero, Southern part of Zacatecas, Aguascalientes, Mexico, Guanajuato, Veracruz, San Luis Potosí and I probably missed a couple. I have a book that shows a map of Nueva Galicia
in the XVI century. It defines the area sorrounded by these places: (Starting in the South and going clock-wise ) Queretaro, Guadalajara, El Teúl, Colotlan, Durango, Cuencamé, Parras, Saltillo, Ciudad Valles. Inside the area are: Guanjuato, Jalostotitlan, Zacatecas, and San Luis Potosi. You got to remember that La Nueva Galicia expanded from here in later years. I am |

I would love a meeting in Southern California/Los Angeles area. I'm from
the San Gabriel Valley.
I'd love the opportunity to meet with anyone from this group. I'm thinking
February would be good since
we all would need a month to "decompress" from the holidays......
