Research Help

Hello,

My name is Jonathan Walker, I have been a member
of the ranchos group, since April 2003.  I just wanted to introduce myself,
to the group. And to offer my help to anyone, in the group, in researching your
genealogies (especially, those who have not sent in, your genealogies).  I
live, in Logan, Utah.  About 90 miles north of Salt Lake City, so I have
access, to the Family History Library, in Salt Lake.  Also, here in the
Logan Family History Center, we have Film/Fiche scanner, that will scan images
to CD.  Also, I have about 15 years experience, in researching genealogy,
with roughly 13 years of that specializing, in Mexico, and about 4 years on
staff at the Logan FHC.

Anyone, who is interested in my help, please let
me know.  My e-mail is
href="mailto:jonwalker@...">jonwalker@...
or
href="mailto:walkerjona@...">walkerjona@...
.

Thank you,

Jonathan Walker

Sebastian Antonio Maldonado

Charlie Maldonado,

Que tal. You should consider joining the group.

well since I'm hovering around 1730 in my genealogy and that being in
the Zacatecas, Zacatecas area I'm not sure I can knowledgeably share
any insight about the Guadalajara area. But if this was my project I'd
contact Rodney
Anderson, the Director of the Guadalajara Project and try to pick his
brains for any sources of information on Military Muster Rolls. I would
think since he is a specialist in the history of Guadalajara he would
be able to at least point you in the right direction. {PLEASE: if you
do this and he does give you information be so kind as to share that
info with the group as it might benefit us all}

ps: by the way I know this recommendation is for info that is 130 years
past the time period you seek but you might want to do an ILL on this
book as it just might give you some clue as to what info was available
in prior years [maybe not but you never know]:

Joseph de Armijo, Zacatecas, Zactecas, Mexico late 1600's

Yes, my family descends from Joseph de Armijo and Catalina
Duran. I have posted my family tree at Ranchos. Or you can go
directly to:
http://wc.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?db=gemglo

At this time no marriage date has been found. But there are
documents which refer to them at the following sites:

>From Beyond ONMF, Internet site hosted by José Antonio
Esquibel, Vol. 5 and Vol. 8:

http://pages.prodigy.net/bluemountain1/beyondorigins.htm

Both have extensive information on the Armijo family from
Zacatecas.

Joseph de Armijo, Zacatecas, Zactecas, Mexico late 1600's

Hello Group,

I wanted to know if anyone has the surname Armijo in
there genealogy preferably in Zacatecas. I am looking
for a marriage date for Joseph de Armijo and Catalina
Duran some time in the 1670's more or less or a
baptism for Joseph de Armijo in the 1650's. These
records would be in Zacatecas, Zacatecas, Mexico.

Thank You,
Angel R. Cervantes

Tierras y Propiedades/Tierras y aguas

has anyone ever ordered any of these films? If so can you give us the
gist of what kind of information can be found on them? Also are they
like the padrones in that they cover all the different parrishes for
the Guadalajara Diocesis but finding your particular area is a hit and
miss procedure without some kind of guide like Dr. Platt's guide to the
Padrones? Does anyone know of any publications that would give some
kind of sense of the areas covered in the two film groups below. I'm
thinking of doing an interlibrary loan on this book by David Robinson:

Sebastian Antonio Maldonado, Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico Late 1600's

I was given this web address from my friend Angelo
Cervantes, who is a member of your group. I would
like to post a query on your website. The query that
I would like to post is this:

Seeking information on a Sebastian Antonio Maldonado,
a native of Guadalajara, Mexico. He was born around
1680. He was a soldier who arrived in the Santa Fe
Presidio (New Mexico) around 1704. I would also be
interested in knowing if anyone has access to a
military muster roll from Guadalajara - circa
1690-1700.

Please consider my query. My email address is
charmaldo@...

Thanks,
Charlie Maldonado

I just spent a lot of time trying to find the postal zip code for my
area of Jalisco. Maybe everybody out there has the place bookmarked on
their computers, but if you don't here is one URL that will give the

Tlaquepaque: FYI

Tlaquepaque is a southeastern suburb of Guadalajara on the way to Lake Chapala, and is famed for its many shops showcasing talented artisans.  The buildings are colonial in nature, and the surrounding barrio is filled with color and vibrant life.  Tlaquepaque is one of the most visited places for las turistas. The incredible Mexican artist Sergio Bustamante had his taller there.   His works were featured at the California State Fair a few years ago as the premier artista de Mexico.

"Though born in Culiacan, Sinaloa, Mexico, Sergio Bustamante has lived in the Guadalajara area since early childhood. In his youth, he studied architecture at the University of Guadalajara, but abandoned this pursuit when his talents and interests drew him to the fine arts and crafts. He began with paintings and paper mache figures, inaugurating the first exhibit of his works at the Galeria Misracha in Mexico City in 1966. In the early 1970's, he traveled to Amsterdam, where he further developed his

Joseph,

Thank You again,

I can't thank you enough for your generosity and for affording me a second opportunity to come through and meet my commitments. I don't usually like to let people down or for that matter let myself down and I will make every effort to come through, not immediately but as soon as I can break away for significant periods of time.

Every time I see or read something submitted by Ranchos Group Members I feel as if I have a connection with our ancestors whether they have my surnames or not. It creates in me a longing and intense curiosity to check to see what area of Los Ranchos they come from. Knowing what I know now, that as someone in the group so succinctly put it, I'm probably my own cousin several times over. I can't help but feel that out there in this group some of you may also be my cousins.

I will continue to relish eveyone else's postings while learning about the software programs available and their attributes and the areas and methods of doing
