My experience is similar. I could get a list of documents from a search, but when I tried to retrieve a document, I would get a server error. The same thing happened with Internet Explorer, Google Chrome and Firefox.

Hola Mario,

Manny,

If you could please send me your line to the Sánchez de la Mejorada? I am also related to this line. I have a Sánchez de la Mejorada line as well in Tamazula de Gordiano, Jalisco who married into my family, Méndez de Torres at the end of the XVIII century. D. José Francisco Méndez de Torres y Méndez de Torres married Da. María Guadalupe Sánchez de la Mejorada y Aguilar on 27 Jul 1795 in Ciudad Guzmán, he than married the woman whom I descend, Da. Desideria Fernández de la Cueva y González Bermejo on 2 Mar 1807 in San Francisco de Tamazula. I wonder if there is a link. I know there are many in México City, perhaps these two lines will link.

Let´s compare what we have!

Hola Daniel,

Thank you very much for replying to my post.

Regarding my Sanchez line, all of the activity I have takes place in Pinos, Zacatecas. As I mentioned, I dead-end in Ciudad de San Luis with the birth of my g6 Francisco Sanchez de la Mejorada, born hijo natural de Cristobal Sanchez and Francisca Narvaez, probably around 1678. They had another hijo natural, Jose Antonio Sanchez, who also married in Pinos:
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/V5F8-7D6
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/V5F8-ZCZ

I haven't been able to trace Cristobal Sanchez, since he and Francisca Narvaez were not married, but I do have Francisca living in Pinos, Zacatecas, as late as 1729, when she was madrina for one of their grandchildren. She had another hijo natural, Luis Sanchez, who also married and had children in Pinos, though his marriage document says he's of padre no conocido. He still uses the Sanchez name, and his children will use the Sanchez de la Mejorada compound surname.
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/V5F8-CR5

And then the other day, I was researching what I believe to be the first marriage of my g6 grandmother, Ysabel Ruiz de Villasenor, with Mathias Gomez; they had a son named Pedro Gomez, who married a young lady named Maria Xertrudis: their marriage document says she was born in la ciudad de San Luis, but she's given no surname and is listed as "padres no conocidos." But as I was pulling up the documents for their children, I noticed she was given a surname on some: "Sanches" as well as "Harbaiz."
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/NRPP-YRF
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/V5FZ-27V
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/V5F8-FZZ

I'm going out on a limb, but "N" looks similar to the "H" in these old documents, so the name is probably Narbaiz: I think she is Sanchez Narvaez, and another hija natural of Cristobal Sanchez and Francisca Narvaez. The timeline, families and locations fit.

I have my grandfather's tree at Ancestry, under the name of J. Refugio G. Hermosillo. It's an open tree, but I'll email you an invite, and you can take a look. You can work your way up beginning with my grandfather's mother, Susana Sanchez. I'm pretty thorough with my research, and I try to include all of the offspring of my ancestors, along with their spouses and children. So maybe one or another rama ended up in one of your communities/lines.

Take a look at my folder, I have all of my lines listed, as far as I've been able to go. I think there are 35 couples and 2 or 3 solteras, so there's well over 70 familias/surnames. I'm sure we have some that coincide!

Un abrazo,

Hola Daniel,

I've been posting on another thread associated with my Sanchez de la Mejorada line, I just posted dispensations and informaciones for several couples descending from my Sanchez, perhaps you can find something helpful: http://www.nuestrosranchos.org/node/21351#comment-26317

Hola Daniel,

I came upon this 1712 dispensation for Nicolas Castaneda and Maria Gomez, which you had posted in another thread:
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-18426-82663-43?cc=1874591&wc…
http://www.nuestrosranchos.org/node/21449

This document is linked to my Sanchez de la Mejorada line, as the mother of Maria Gomez is Ysabel Ruiz, my g6. This dispensation is a great find for me, as it confirms my theory that Ysabel Ruiz de Villasenor married Capitan Francisco Sanchez de la Mejorada after the death of her first husband, Mathias Gomez: Francisco Sanchez is a testigo, and in his declaration, he says he is the step-father of the pretensa, Maria Gomez. GOL!!

I've located the marriage record for Mathias Gomez & Ysabel de Avalos, https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/JZXJ-PP2
which gives his parents as Juan Gomez Nieto and Theresa Martin(ez) Guerrero, and the parents of Ysabel de Avalos as Agustin de Avalos and Magdalena Ruiz. I found the baptismal record for Agustin de Avalos, https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/NRXZ-YBP born 01 Oct 1640 in Pozos, SLP, to Sebastian Baltazar de Avalos and Mariana de Castro. I can find nothing on Magdalena Ruiz.

I was expecting her to be linked to Baltasar de Avalos from Lagos de Moreno, but Sebastian Baltazar de Avalos lived in Pozos, SLP. Do you know if there is any connection to the Lagos de Avalos line?

Here is the extent of my Sanchez line:

At the top of my tree I have Cristobal Sanchez and Francisca Narbais/Narvaez, both born around 1650-1660. They weren't married but they had at least 3 hijos naturales, and one probable hija natural, while living in San Luis Potosi, between 1678 and late 1690s. By the late 1690s-early1700s, their children were marrying and having children in Pinos, Zacatecas.
I have the following children for Cristobal Sanchez and Francisca Narbais:

I. Capitan Francisco Sanchez de la Mejorada, born about 1678 in SLP. He married twice, to:
m1. Ysabel Ruiz de Villaseñor around 1697, probably in Pinos, Zacatecas. I believe her to be the widow of Mathias Gomez, but I haven't the documentation. Their children were:

1. Josepha Mejorada Ruiz, b. 18 April 1698 in Pinos, ZAC. She married Diego Delgado Gallegos, 16 Feb 1722, in Pinos, Zacatecas.
2. Joaquin Sanchez de la Mejorada, b. 12 Apr 1699 in Pinos, ZAC, m. Juana Anastacia de la Puente, 10 Feb 1725, in Venado, SLP.
3. Francisca Sanchez Ruiz, m. Juan Delgado Gallegos, 16 Oct 1719, in Pinos, Zacatecas.
4. Jose Francisco Sanchez de la Mejorada, b. 26 Nov 1703, in Pinos, ZAC, m. Marina Gomez de Sotomayor, 6 Oct 1721, in Pinos, Zacatecas.

m2. Margarita de Cuevas, married on 25 Jan 1720 in Pinos, Zacatecas. She was the daughter of Francisco de Cuevas and Maria Martin de Sotomayor. Their children were:

1. Maria Eugenia Sanchez, b. 30 Nov 1721, in Pinos, Zacatecas.
2. Juan Antonio Sanchez, b. 3 May 1723, in Pinos, Zacatecas.
3. Maria Catarina Sanchez, b. 2 Dec 1724, in Pinos, Zacatecas.
4. Ysabel Eusebia Sanchez, b. about 1725, she married Juan Fermin de Goicocheo, 11 Jul 1745, in Pinos, Zacatecas.
5. Francisca Simona Sanchez, b. 27 Feb 1726, in Pinos, Zacatecas.
6. Juana Maria Sanchez, b. 4 Jul 1728, Pinos, Zacatecas.

II. Jose Antonio Sanchez Narvaez, born in Ciudad SLP, m. Gregoria Mendez de Sotomayor, 31 Jan 1720 in Pinos, Zacatecas. She was the daughter of Juan Mendez de Sotomayor and Juana de Jazo. Their children were:

1. Rita Engracia Sanchez, b. 28 Apr 1720 in Pinos, Zacatecas, m. Phelipe de Tiscareño, 9 Sep 1737, in Pinos, Zacatecas. He was the son of Francisco de Tiscareño and Margarita Marquez (aka Maria Ramirez de Sosa).
2. Dicidora Xetrudes Sanchez, b. 3 May 1722, in Pinos, Zacatecas.
3. Descanso Sanchez, b. 13 June 1724, in Pinos, Zacatecas.
4. Prudencio Sanchez, b. 30 Nov 1726, in Pinos, Zacatecas.
5. Jose Seferino Sanchez, b. 2 Apr 1731, in Pinos, Zacatecas, m. Josepha Rosalia Morelos, 26 Nov 1758, in Pinos, Zacatecas.
6. Eugenia Prudencia Sanchez, m. Jose Lazaro de Carrion, on 25 May 1749, in Pinos, Zacatecas.
7. Juana Felipa Sanchez, b. 17 Jun 1733, in Pinos, Zacatecas.
8. Jose Sotero Sanchez, b. 5 May 1735, in Pinos, Zacatecas.
9. Jose Alejandro Sanchez, b. 19 May 1737, in Pinos, Zacatecas.

III. Luis Sanchez de la Mejorada, born in Ciudad SLP, m. Antonia Gomez Tiscareño, 4 Feb 1722, in Pinos, Zacaecas. She was the daughter of Nicolas Gomez and Lorenza Tiscareño. Though on his marriage record, he is listed as "hijo natural de Francisca Narbais y de padre no conocido," on a marriage dispensation for two of their descendants, he is said to be the brother of Francisco Sanchez and of the same father. The children of Luis Sanchez and Antonia Gomez were:

1. Miguel Fermin Sanchez, b. 3 Oct 1724, in Pinos, Zacatecas.
2. Maria Guadalupe Sanchez, b. 7 Apr 1727, m. Onorato Domingo Delgado, 14 Feb 1748, in Pinos, Zacatecas.
3. Francisca Getrudis Sanchez de la Mejorada, m1 Jose Manuel Domingues, 12 Oct 1746, in Pinos; m2 Jose Salvador Tirado, 28 Apr 1756, in Pinos, Zacatecas.
4. Rosalia Sanchez, m. Juan Pablo Jose Gaitan, 19 Apr 1758, in Pinos, Zacatecas.
Jose Antonio Atancio Gaitan, 2 Feb 1756, in Pinos, Zacatecas.
6. Maria Cecila Santos Sanchez de la Mejorada, m. Nicolas Ramirez, 28 May 1759, in Pinos, Zacatecas.
7. Anna Gertrudis Sanchez, b. 18 Dec 1740, in Pinos, Zacatecas.
8. Juan Francisco Sanchez, n. Juana Victoria Maria Delgado de Torres Medellin, 6 May 1760, in Pinos, Zacatecas.

IV. Maria Xertrudis (Sanchez Narbais), natural de Ciudad SLP, m. Pedro Gomez, on 17 Jun 1706, in Pinos, Zacatecas. He was the son of Mathias Gomez de Sotomayor and Ysabel Ruiz de Villaseñor. Though on her marriage record, she is listed as "padres no conocidos," on parish records for two of their children, she is listed as Maria Gertrudes Sanches, and on another as Maria Gertrudes "Harbais." The locations, timelines and families fit, and it's too much of a coincidence for her not to be an hija natural of Cristobal Sanchez and Francisca Narbais. So I have her in my tree, but only as hija natural de Francisca Narbais. The children of Maria Xertrudis and Pedro Gomez are:

1. Cristobal Florentino Gomez, b. 10 Jul 1707, in Pinos, Zacatecas.
2. Thomas Antonio Gomez, b. 18 Aug 1709, in Pinos, Zacatecas.
3. Vicente Gomez, b. 13 Apr 1711, in Pinos, Zacatecas.
4. Miguel Gomez Narbais, 25 May, 1713, in Pinos, Zacatecas; he was married to Francisca Xaviera Tiscareño, daughter of Francisco Tiscareño and Margarita Marquez (aka Maria Ramirez de Sosa).
5. Jose Jacinto Gomez Sanchez, b. 27 Aug 1715, in Pinos, Zacatecas, m. Maria Teresa Tiscareño, 20 Aug 1738, in Pinos, Zacatecas; she was the daughter of Francisco Tiscareño and Margarita Marquez (aka Maria Ramirez de Sosa).
6. Pascual Gomez, b. 13 May 1718, in Pinos, Zacatecas.
7. Ysabel Dionisia Gomez, b. 16 Oct 1720, in Pinos, Zacatecas.

Help! Caldera lineage

Arturo and everyone else in the group.

I've been trying to enter my Caldera line using the information in the files by Susan Leniski. I'm having a problem with the time line between the births of the children of Pedro Cid Caldera and Ana Maria Carrillo. My interest is in their daughters Clara Cid and Ysabel Cid, I can't find a birth date that works for them. In fact I can't figure the date of birth for their father Pedro Cid Caldera!

Hi Linda:

It's me again. I've just found who your Isabel Caldera is: the daughter of
Pedro Cid Caldera and Juana Rosales (whose marriage information is the my

Ysabel Cid Caldera and husband Clemente Acuna have their first child abt
1691 or so, and their last abt 1710.. How does that work???? HELP

Your Isabel Cid Caldera, the wife of Clemente de Acuña, could've not have
been a daughter of Pedro Cid Caldera and María Carrillo, whose marriage took
place around 1625. Following (i) is the marriage information of Pedro, one
of the latter couple sons, who must have been born around 1644; (2) Plus
your Isabel Cid or Caldera was still having children in 1699. (3) Another
daughter, Matiana, was born around 1649 (probably earlier).

(4) There was another couple named Pedro Cid and Maria Carrillo (very common
names in Jerez at the time, by the way), living in the early 18th century.

No firmó. Pretende contraer matrimonio
No firmó.

Asunto: [Nuestros Ranchos] Help! Caldera lineage

Arturo and everyone else in the group.

I've been trying to enter my Caldera line using the information in the
files by Susan Leniski. I'm having a problem with the time line between the
births of the children of Pedro Cid Caldera and Ana Maria Carrillo. My
interest is in their daughters Clara Cid and Ysabel Cid, I can't find a
birth date that works for them. In fact I can't figure the date of birth for
their father Pedro Cid Caldera!

The girls mother Ana Maria Carrillo must have been born abt 1600 and thats
the problem. I can make Clara Cid Caldera work if she's born abt 1630 but
Ysabel Cid Caldera and husband Clemente Acuna have their first child abt
1691 or so, and their last abt 1710.. How does that work???? HELP

where did you find pedro cid caldera and juana rosales's marriage record. i have had no luck finding it on familysearch

edit: i should also mention that i've found documents stating that clara and matiana were adopted

edit:since the transcirption of pedro and juana's marriage record claims juana rosales has unknown parentage, i suspect that antonio carlos cheated on his wife with another woman, since his wife catalina, was a sister of juana's husband pedro cid caldera

Family Search Web Site Help

Hi Everyone, up until yesterday I was able to research images (microfilm) with my old google browser and windows xp. The images would open up already focused, even when moving the image.

I too have not been able to view the microfilm on FamilySearch. I have Windows XP 7. Is there a problem using this browser? The person I contacted at Family Search did not seem to know what was going on. Any info on this situation would be helpful.
Thank you

Subject: [Nuestros Ranchos] introduction - de la Torre-Berumen Uribarren

Hi everybody! Hola!
First, let me say that I'm excited to be part of this community, and am
grateful that it exists. I look forward to collaborating and sharing my
research with other members here.

My name is Jose Luis de la Torre, Jr., and I'm interested in researching the
de la Torre family in particular, as well as my other ancestors. I don't
have many details yet as I'm just starting on my research, but I'll share
what I know so far about my family's roots on the de la Torre side.

>From what I know, my great-great grandfather was Francisco de la Torre, who
married Martina Velasco. They lived in Guadalupe, Zacatecas. I don't know
anything else about Francisco and his family, so I'm hoping to uncover more
in my research, and find out about his other descendants.

My great grandfather was Ygnacio de la Torre Berumen from Guadalupe,
Zacatecas, who married Maria Uribarren Velasco from Guanajuato, in 1899 in
Guadalupe, Zacatecas. Shortly after their wedding, they moved to hacienda
Canada Honda close to Aguasclientes. They lived in Aguascalientes between
1905 and 1922, then moved to San Luis Potosi. Sometime in the late 1920s,
Ygnacio moved his family to Nogales.

Of his children, three became Catholic priests. Francisco and Carlos de la
Torre became Jesuits, and I believe they spent most of their ministry in
Torreon, Coahuila. Ignacio de la Torre became a diocesan priest and served
in Nogales, Sonora most of his life. My grandfather was Luis de la Torre,
who married Carmen Mercedes Ruiz de Chavez y Alvarez Tostado. Of my
grandmother's family I know nothing, but that will be a future area of
research.

Over thanksgiving I managed to find a copy of _Filigranas, Fundaciones y
Genealogias, Tepetongo, Zacs._ by Jose Leon Robles de la Torre, and scanned
most of it. I've posted the de la Torre family tree from his book at:
http://www.nuestrosranchos.org/node/18246. While it has a lot of
valuable information, unfortunately I can't place my great-great
grandfather, or great-grandfather, on the tree. I hope it will be useful to
others. Hopefully one day I can find the connection from my family tree to
Jose Robles's. It would seem that the de la Torres from Tepetongo, ZAC
would be related to the ones from Guadalupe, ZAC, but I guess one may have
to go farther up on the trees to see the connections.

Yours truly,
Jose Luis

Carmen Mercedes Ruiz de Chavez y Alvarez Tostado.

Was your grandma from Los Altos de Jalisco? Alvarez y Tostado

is a family in Los Altos: you might want to start on this line?

This family has been researched extensivly, You could probably

easily trace it back to its patriatch Lorenzo.

I have Alvarez Tostado from Michoacan in Tamazula Jalisco in the early 1700's too.  Looks like this family traveled a lot!  Daniel did you check to see if they are related to your Los Altos families?

Help with Marriage Document

Comment

In the future please inform us which side of the image and which entry has
the record that you are requesting assistance with.

Textually it states the following -

"siendo el 1o originario y vecino de este pueblo de 26 años de edad y
vecino que fue 5 años en Atotonilco el Alto hijo de D. Pablo Becerra y de
doña Juana..."

In English

"the 1st person is a native and inhabitant of this town [he is] 26 years
old and he was an inhabitant for 5 years in Atotonilco el Alto..."

Native meaning that is where he was born. It does not state during which
of his 26 years he spent 5 years in Atotonilco el Alto.

It does not include the words hasta or hace. It uses the word fue where
others transcribed it as the previous two

I hope this helps,
Armando

Thank you for all the help. I have yet to locate his birth recorded at Purisima, but I'll keep trying. He seems to have moved around quite a bit, eventually staying in Atotonilco el Alto, though all the offspring from this marriage seem to have been baptized in Purisima.

Gracias!

I believe the city of Zamora, Michoacan was called Sevilla first but then you are reading records in Hidalgo.

(link)

The document states that the parents of Maria de Jesús Pérez were Don
Joseph Pérez and María Josefa Pérez per the 2nd line at the top of image

That document was very difficult to read. I still don't fully understand that first sentence that states that Jose Perez and Josefa Perez are the brides parents. At the bottom it makes sense that the pardinos should be the ones listed but it does say "padres" before their names. Again thank you for taking the time to check this out. Now I am on the right "ramo" de familia.
Atentamente, Aurora

Comment

The handwriting is definitely hard to read but I can read most of it. Where
is says "padr" and has some markings next to it also has a dot for the i of
padrinos. Even though it looks like padres it does say padrinos. The
context of the document also has to be taken into account.

I was able to transcribe most of the document -

Nuestra Señora de San Juan is what is now called San Juan de los Lagos.
Many people confuse the cities of San Juan de los Lagos and Lagos de Moreno
as the same place but they are 48 km apart from each other. San Juan de los
Lagos is where the Virgen de San Juan is and Lagos de Moreno is where the
insurgent Pedro Moreno was from and the city was previously called Santa
Maria de los Lagos or villa de (los) Lagos for short.

There are three baptisms that are within the expected dates in San Juan de
los Lagos that match Joseph Pérez and María Pérez. One of the baptisms has
the parents with the compound surname Pérez Franco. The earliest baptism is
1761. I do not see a marriage for the that couple prior to that year. You
should look at the padrinos and the ranches mentioned in the baptisms and
look through the records of Información Matrimonial of San Juan de los
Lagos prior to 1761. Also look through the dispensas of everyone with the
surname Franco at
http://www.guadalajaradispensas.com/search?q=Francoand
at
http://guadalajaradispensas.tumblr.com/ and try and make a tree of all of
the Pérez Franco family members. The Franco surname is uncommon enough to
include all of them. Pérez is so common you would want to concentrate on
the families from La Chona, San Juan, Jalos, and Tepa. The tumblr site has
Tepa as Tecpatitlan (an older spelling) and it has San Juan as Lagos, which
is incorrect. So don't overlook those.

The Pérez Franco compound surname started with the children of Alonso Pérez
Torillo and Luisa Paredes Franco
http://gw.geneanet.org/sanchiz?lang=es;p=alonso;n=perez+torillo so there is
a possibility that you descend from them and at some point you might be
able to tie your tree to the one above.

I have all of the ancestors of Juan Joseph Gregorio de Anda y Cuéllar if
you would like me to send an ancestry report on him to you.

Un saludo cordial,
Armando

Yes Armando,
I would appreciate the info on Juan Gregorio DeAnda Cuellar. I do have info on him back to Gaspar Macias Valades and Antonia DeAnda Altamirano y Martinez de Alarcón. I would like to compare notes to see if I have the correct information. I have the baptismal info on most of Juan Gregorio DeAnda’s and Jesus Peres children except for my great, great grandfather Rafael Anda Peres. All I have is his marriage record to Maria Encarnación Pedroza (Oct. 9, 1832 Encarnación de Diaz) where it states that his parents are Juan Jose (Gregorio) De Anda and Ma. De Jesus Peres.

I have followed the line of Gaspar Macias Valades back to Blas Macias and Catalina Ramirez (Valadez) married about 1556 in Lagos de Moreno.

I also found Jesus Perez Franco and Josepha Perez Franco and am checking them out. Also Juan Gregorio’s 2nd wife was Ancelma Franco.
Thanks for the info on the dispensas I will be working on getting info from there.

Anttonia, daughter of Diego de Leon y de Lorenza Massias.

Have I read this marriage record correctly?

p.s. I am still looking for the missing name mentioned in the original posting.

Thanks,
Roy

I have also encountered the same problem with double records for the same person, and I am glad Esther Jordan has touched on the subject of needing a separate header for Confirmations. It can become a challenge trying to decipher which is the correct baptism date. I thought I was the only one having that problem. Thanks for the information.

Anastasia De Leon

Does anyone have information on Anastasia De Leon? She married Salvador Lopez. They had a son Jose Manuel Lopez who was born about 1770 in Jalisco.
