I attempted to register at the site this morning.
It accepted registration information but when I received a code to confirm
the registration, site returns message that they are not able to confirm
registration. If it does not confirm it with an hour, I will have to enter
the registration process all over.

Hi Del,

We have used FamilyTreeDna (ftdna.com) for all the testing that has taken place for myself, my husband, my paternal nephew and my maternal grandfather's grand nephew.

I'm pleased with their service and their service reps are very accommodating.
Also the run pricing promotions.

Pat Silva Corbera
p.s. forgot to mention my maternal uncle's son's YDNA and his mtDNA was also tested.

Hello Pat,

I am looking for a DNA service to use to help me with my genealogy
research.
Would you mind telling me which service you used?
I am now at the stage of my research where my brother is going to do the
Y- DNA test so any information you can email to me would be greatly
appreciated.

Sincerely,
Del

¡Qué buen trabajo! Muchas gracias.

Atentamente,
Steven Francisco Hernández López

Hello Laura,

Family Finder does not provide haplogroup info. You need to get an mtDNA
test for the maternal line and a male has to get the Y-DNA test for the
paternal line.

For your ancestry percentage the best calculator is the Globe13 at
http://www.y-str.org/tools/diy-dodecad-wrapper/

You have to download your raw file from Family Finder first then drag it
into the DIYdodecadwrapper and choosing globe13 out of the list of
calculators.

You can save the results as a text file. Post them here I can provide a
comparison to Spanish and other European populations sources.

The Globe13 calculator uses terminology that closely matches the National
Geographic Geno 2.0 test.

https://genographic.nationalgeographic.com/overview-of-regions-and-clos…

https://genographic.nationalgeographic.com/overview-of-regions-and-clos…

The other two items that Family Finder provides are matches with a
calculated relationship and a chromosome browser. The match calculation
isn't very accurate past 3 generations since the amount of DNA is random
but a common ancestor can be found with triangulation, even at 10
generations, if there are enough matches on the same chromosome on the same
region and multiple people have well documented trees. If multiple
ancestors are shared the most recent ancestors in common will be the ones
that passed the DNA down to you. You can find out who matches you on the
which chromosomes by downloading the chromosome browser information through
www.dnagedcom.com

Once you have the chromosome browser you can separate the matches by
chromosome. You can use my template to copy and past matches according to
their chromosome.

There are now two different DNA projects for our region which I recommend
that you join.

Hola Juan,

Saludos cordiales,

Sergio Salés

Have you tried the Dispensas de Guadalajara? Here's a link, try looking at the respective years you are searching for. Thanks to Claudia Casillas and her group of volunteers who have indexed the names of the pretensos and pretensas and the town they were from it's so much easier than perusing every page, item by item.

Subject: [Nuestros Ranchos] Manuel Rodriguez from Mazamitla, Jalisco

Hello,

I have been researching my father's family for a while, and it all has been a straightforward process--until now. I am trying to find the marriage records for my great great grandfather Manuel Rodriguez and my great great grandmother Trinidad Silva, who were presumably married in Mazamitla, Jalisco in 1865. Manuel Rodriguez is the son of Jose Jesus Rodriguez and Maria de Jesus Martinez. Trinidad Silva is the daughter of Vicente Silva and Rita Silva. I have parsed through the marriage records for Mazamitla and nearby Quitupan, but marriage records do not exist for 1864-1867 and 1862-1867, respectively. Their marriage records are the only thing that could tell me where they came from, seeing as nobody in my extended family knows. Do I look in military records? Do I leave open the possibility that they may have come from elsewhere? What other resources do I turn to? Thanks in advance.

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-18563-15354-34?cc=1874591&wc…

Los padres de Cosme fueron: Jose Maria Padilla y Mariana Martin y los padres de Hilaria Gonzalez: Pedro Gonzalez y Maria San Jose Macias....

Hi,

I just got my results back from FTDNA, and it's rather confusing. I'll check out the sites you mentioned above, at a more decent hour. :-)

I ordered the basic Family Finder test. Does that find your haplogroup? Or do I need to order another test to find the haplogroup? I don't see this in my "info."

Thanks!
Laura Gonzalez

Thanks for the tip! I am following on tumblr now.
Regards, Denise

Thanks for doing this!

I am now following you on Tumblr. =)

Subject: [Nuestros Ranchos] Introduction of Stacy Latocha

Hi, my name is Stacy Latocha and I am trying to continue research on my
family.  I know that two of my great-grandparents were born in the Nuestros
Ranchos area.  Great Grandfather Francisco Reyes was born in Zacatecas and
died in Torreon in December 1944.  I have had absolutely zero luck finding
anything out about him at all.

Great Grandmother Maria Juana Joaquina Garcia born in San Juan de los Lagos
16 August 1888. I have been able to tease out her background to a degree,
but I would like to go further.

I am at the marriage record for her grandparents Don Cipriano Garcia and
Dona Teodosia Franco.  However I am now stuck!  I cannot read this or make
sense of it.  Can someone with a further background in the abbreviations
help me?  I am looking at the second record down on the left.  None of my
Spanish speaking family can help me.

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-18684-130061-76

Any suggestions regarding Zacatecas research would be appreciated.
Best,
Stacy
