Alberto; My grandparents came from Jerez, Zacatecas. That is all that I
know about them. Maybe you can help me, if you will. My grandfather was
Feliciano Macias. Do you have a link to the Macias clan in Jerez?

Hola!

I'm glad I stumbled onto this group because my mother and I just
started researching into our family's roots and we would love to learn
and contribute to this group. My name is Jeannette Soriano Gonzalez
and most of my family on both sides lives in the Los Angeles/Ontario,
CA area. However, my father's family is from La Ermita de Guadalupe,
a pueblo near Jerez, ZAC. I am looking for the following surnames
from La Ermita: Soriano, Ultreras, Trujillo & Landeros. My mother's
father is from Venustiano Carranza (formerly San Gabriel), JAL. The
surnames I'm looking for there are Gonzalez and Baltazar. My
mother's mother family moved around a lot, but they originated from
Michoacan towns such as Iztlan, Tanuhato & Sauayo (sp?). The names
I'm looking for there are Alvarez, Espinoza, Ramirez & Salazar.

I'm looking forward to reading through the list and putting our
geneology line up once we input into the Family Tree Maker software we
bought recently! Would appreciate any

Joseph,
About not finding Valparaiso Batch numbers, I've also reviewed the
Jalisco_ZacatecasOPT.pdf files in the ranchos2 section and didn't
find them.

However in FAMILY HISTORY LIBRARY CATALOG it lists the following:
--------------------------------------------------
Title Registros parroquiales, 1831-1973
Authors Iglesia Católica. La Purísima (Valparaíso, Zacatecas) (Main
Author)
y otras capillas cercanas.
Parish registers of baptisms, confirmations, marriages and deaths
from Valparaíso, Zacatecas, Mexico.

Subjects Mexico, Zacatecas, Valparaíso - Church records
Mexico, Zacatecas, San Mateo - Church records
Mexico, Zacatecas, San Miguel - Church records

Format Manuscript (On Film)
Language Spanish

perfectly acceptable. . .if i had relatives from that place and i had
some chump change like that weighing me down I'd certainly like to know
so I could add it to my collection of family memorabilia.

thanks for the message. . .keep them coming. As long as they are related
to our target area or info that is general enough to be of value to all
areas of Mexican research this group is wide open. . .bring on the info!!!

thanks,

joseph

Joseph,

Use the Resource disk, that I sent you. go to the geographical index,
look under Jalisco, and click on the 2000 census info. It is a .pdf
file. Open the search option, and try a combination of letters, and
see if you find you town.

Thanks,
Jonathan

Joseph,

There is another URL for Valparaiso: http://www.portalvalparaiso.com/portal/. Maybe you have discussed it previously.

thanks to Victor Villarreal we have this great URL in the links area

under "Pueblos on the web." especially look at the link "Numeros

Importantes" there are some Casetas listed. . .I wish I could find a

list of Casetas for other places in our target area. Anyone know of a

URL that would list the Casetas Mexico wide? Or at least for Jalisco?

thanks Victor,

yes great idea. . .a lot of the sites have a equivilent to sign a "guest
book" option. Here you can see a variety of people who have visited the
site. Most don't live there now but probably still have relatives that
live there. Also if you start by contacting the ones with the particular
surnames you are researching who knows but you might be contacting a
lost branch of your family.

Thanks Victor for the addition of towns to the lists and the
encouragement to contact our places of origen (at least as far as we know).
