no list but if you go to the files you will find the members genealogies
and under the description you will see the major locations and surnames.
. .I would concentrated on the locations. Not a whole lot there from
Valparaiso, but there are at least two other members of the group
researching the area.
thanks, joseph
ps: I used to live in Northern Baltimore County for 18 years before
moving to NC in 1998. I know what you're going through weather wise.

Became stuck looking for birth record of Juan Florencio Villegas who, according to his 1759 marriage record, was born in Ameca. It was always my assumption that meant Ameca, Jalisco since he was married in Colotlan Jalisco. However, I now notice records of Ameca, Edo and there is always Amecameca. How can I find out where immigrants to Colotlan usually came from in the early 1700's? Possibly the State of Mexico? Thanks. Evie

Hi Carol,
Check out Steven's posting of the Martin del Campo Family. Your
Campos might tie in. I still need to work more on my Alvarez-Tostado. I just know they lived in the Jalostotitlan/San Juan de los Lagos area. Irma

Nice to hear from you. I am pretty ignorant of
Mexico and it's "towns", or "ranchos', as they call them? But the areas I know of are Momax, Tlaltenango, Totoletiche(sp?) in Zacatecas. In Jalisco, I am not sure, but have been told that the "ranchos" border the states of Zacatecas and Jalisco. One of these is an area called "El Refugio". Also, the "Alvarez" ancestors list is pretty
large and encompasses many surnames. The strongest is "Campos". I will be posting my genealogy as it is to this group and hopefully will find some connections. The two names you mentioned are not |

This sounds like the couple needed a dispensation to marry. This

In reading the microfilms of marriage
records for Nochistlán, Zacatecas, I was disappointed to find that there are no parents identified for the bride and groom for the first third of the 18th century (till about 1733) nor for much of the year 1752. Since they had to prove their
relationship was distant enough, I'm assuming that information was recorded elsewhere. Can someone suggest where I should look. All my lines end at Film # 0226725
unless I have found them in Genealogía de Nochistlán Antiguo Reino de la Nueva Galicia en el Siglo XVII según sus Archivos Parroquiales by José Luis Vázquez y Rodríguez de Frías, which I value highly but which is a secondary source. (By the
way, I am not traveling to Nochistlán in the spring. I am quite disappointed, but am hoping that I can go next year.) ~Deena

Hi Peggy, It appears to be so. Such is the case of those films from Valparaiso that started this discussion. What you can do is go to the Family History Library Catalog and do a Place Search http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Library/FHLC/frameset_fhlc.asp Then select the place out of the list; in the place details select the topic of your interest, for example, Church records. Then in topic details select one of the titles. Finaly, in the title details click the upper right button "View Film Details". There you will see all the films that are available for the locality of your choice, whether they are in the IGI or not. Hope this helps! Joseph, I'm afraid that the percentage of films yet to be captured to the IGI is quite significant, because using the batch number list in Ranchos2 and going thru the list number by number for several localities of my interest many of them didn't return any records. And I mean any records, not just the ones I'm looking for. This is an unexpected finding for me. Any comments? Go to http://home.earthlink.net If you have a problem logging on to Steve's genealogical website, go to www.google.com and just put-Steve Campos genealogical-and hopefully it will come up. There are above 22 Macias listed on Steve's website, all from Jerez. Good luck. Alberto. --- zendeanwrote: > Albert; Thank you for your reply. How would I get > to Steve Campos' > genealogy site ? Victor; I don't know the percentages. I know that I have a stack of 2,500
names that must be reviewed for posting and I am still working on the film..
I think that there are others who still are working on a film for the
postings. I wish I had a book with just names to use as a reference !
After I finish there is a review of those that I've done soas to be sure
that the names i have cleared are then reviewed for correctness. Those that
still can not be read are reviewed and later posted to Salt Lake. Some I can
clearly read but have never seen such a name before.
Yes, you are correct, there are new names being cleared everyday and
sent for posting. I am working on a the baptisms for a church in South
American from 1890-1895. Others are extracting names from films in other
countries and locations. It takes a long time because I want it to be
correct and hopw someone somewhere is extracting the line I am waiting to
see.

No, I don't, but if you check Steve Campos genealogy on our group site, I believe you may find a Macias listed. Good luck. I just started a new Album in the Photos section of the group. It's called Ranchero's y Rancherita's. If anyone else would care to why not put your picture (singular) in the Album. Make sure you put your complete name on it and email address would be good too if there is enough room. thanks, joseph ps: Thank you Alicia Carrillo for sending along the picture of you and Helyn, Rich and Kitty that got this started.
