Does anyone know where Mesquite de Charco is located?
I have been looking for this family for a long time and recently found their marriage record 6 March 1803. The following is their IM
To my knowledge, Los Contreras was a ranch that is now in the town of Tlaltenango de Sánchez Román, Zacatecas. At that time, it would have been part of Nueva Galicia which put it under the jurisdiction of Guadalajara. I saw "Los Contreras" a lot on the Tumblr Dispensas.
http://guadalajaradispensas.tumblr.com/
Hey we could have a common ancestor lol
thank you kindly for the information!
Hello,
I have a few relatives born in Rancho Contreras as recent as 1880. My farthest Contreras is
Maria Gertrudes Ramona Cardenas ( born circa 1798 Momax, Zac)
Married Juan Jose Ribera in 1814 Momax.
Her parents are Augustin Cardenas and Maria Tejada.
It's a line I have yet to research. My notes say that the Contreras of Momax and Tlaltenango intermarried often with Briceno and Orozco.
Anything ring a bell? I will focus on both Ribera and Contreras soon. Good luck.

Hey man check the Tumblr Index I linked on my first reply. Besides Los Contreras, I think I saw Tlaltenango mentioned.
Has anyone used a local genealogist to obtain records at the government
archives in Guadalajara?
I am available to go and maybe you are interested in Archivo Municipal de Guadalajara?
Here is my email; enrique.inglob@gmail.com
Hi I thought I'd share this with you guys. A while back, I found the death certificate of my Great Great Great Great grandmother, Guadalupe Camacho.
That is so cool. Thank you for sharing such and interesting story. Can I ask her parents names / who her husband was?
Her Husband is Santiago Contreras Rodriguez. They lived in Santiago De Pinos, Jalisco.
Her parents's names are Cristanto Camacho and Trinidad Pena.
Hello, does anyone have any information on Ignacio López de Elizalde & Maria Cano? I have hit a road block.
Hi Vanessa,
Here is the christening record of Ignacio:
"Mexico Baptisms, 1560-1950," database, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:NBM8-8VN : 2 January 2015), Nicolas Lopez in entry for Ygnacio Lopez Ortega, 07 Apr 1659; citing SANTA MARIA DE LOS LAGOS, LAGOS DE MORENO, JALISCO, MEXICO, reference ; FHL microfilm 221,404.
Name: Ygnacio Lopez Ortega
Gender: Male
Christening Date: 07 Apr 1659
Christening Place: SANTA MARIA DE LOS LAGOS, LAGOS DE MORENO, JALISCO, MEXICO
Father's Name: Nicolas Lopez
Mother's Name: Jna. De Ortega
Indexing Project (Batch) Number: C60412-1
System Origin: Mexico-ODM
GS Film number: 221404
I hope it helps in your search.
Thank you so much for the information. My only question is how can I be sure that these are his parents/this is him and not another person by the same name? I was unable to find a marriage document for Ygnacio and Maria Cano.
I've never heard that before. But, if you look on google books, several people are listed as Mayordomo of Juana la loca and none of them are named Diego Gonzalez Vega. The only one named Diego is named Diego Reinoso.

Does anyone have ALESSANDRO VITELA's email address?
ALESSANDRO VITELA was once a member of nuestrosranchos.orgmunity.
Hello, Mr. Ricci. I am related to Alessandro Vitela through our common ancestors Jose Antonio Apodaca and Cornelia Rosalia Ayala, married in Sayula, Jalisco on May 30, 1814. I also strongly believe that we may have common Castro ancestors from Zacoalco.
I've been in contact with him and he's on my facebook list. I just sent him your message and I hope to hear from him soon. I'll let you know.
Steve in NC
Dear Steve,
I used some of my searching skills to track him down. I sent him an email and he responded last night. I provided him with the info, and some threads that may provide more information. He was grateful and asked me to send him my book when I finish it. My book has a few chapters on the Cervantes as I have found much information on this family that is not found in already published books.
Thanks,
Rick A.Ricci
P.S. This is the second time this month that I tracked down someone that used to be part of the nuestrosranchos.orgmunity. The first time I asked police officers to deliver my message. I have yet to receive a response except that the police officers say that he said he was recovering from a recent surgery and that was why he wasn't responding to email messages or phone calls.
It was a welcome exercise tracking down live people for a change.
Hi Everyone,
Here's the dispensation record for Diego de Estrada II and Sebastiana Montaño dated 1724.
Dear Joe,
This document helps a lot.
Thank you for your work and for sharing,
Rick A. Ricci
I was wondering if anyone knows anything about this person or persons.

HOLA , SERGIO COMO ESTAS?
BUENO ME TARDE EN CONTESTARTE PORQUE CASI SIEMPRE ESTOY MUY OCUPADA PERO COMO ME ENCANTA LA GENEALOGIA ESTABA MIRANDO TU E MAIL Y YO NO TENGO EN MI ARBOL A ESAS PERSONAS QUE MENCIONAS TAL VEZ SEAN PARIENTES PERO NO TENGO LA CONECCION EXACTA PERO TE VOY A DECIR ALGUNAS FECHAS Y NOMBRES POR SI TE SIRVEN:
HIJOS DE LAZARO GUTIERREZ Y THERESA XIMENEZ ( QUE A VESES XIMENES LO ENCUENTRAS ASI GIMENEZ) PERO ES LO MISMO NOMASQUE TIENES QUE CHECAR SI SON LAS MISMAS PERSONAS. EN ESTE CASO CREO QUE SI.
DIEGO MIGUEL GUTIERREZ XIMENES BAUTIZADO EL 7 JUN DE 1731 EN NUESTRA SENORA DE LA ASUNCION EN JALOSTOTITLAN JALISCO MEXICO EL MICROFILM ES 279255 LUEGO A ROSA MARIA DE JESUS GUTIERREZ EL 25 DE ENERO DE 1728 EN EL MISMO LUGAR Y ESTA EN EL MISMO MICROFILM. LUEGO ESTA FRANCISCO GUTIERREZ DE HERMOSILLO CASADO CON THOMASA ( QUE YO CREO QUE FRANCISCO Y LAZARO DEBEN SER HERMANOS) ELLOS TAMBIEN ESTAN BAUTIZANDO A UNA NINA LLAMADA JUANA ANA JOCHINA GUTIERREZ GARCIA EL 10 DE JULIO DE 1726 EN EL MISMO LUGAR Y ESTA EN EL MISMO NUMERO DE MICROFILM.
LUEGO HAY OTRO NINO NACIDO DE FRANCISCO GUTIERREZ DE HERMOSILLO PERO CON OTRA MUJER LLAMADA MARIA DOLORES GOMEZ DE MENDOZA EL NINO SE LLAMA CRISTOBAL JOAQUIN DE SAN NICOLAS GUTIERREZ Y LO BAUTIZAN EL 21 DE SEPTIEMBRE DE 1731. EN ESTA CASO SI LOS DOS FRANCISCOS SON EL MISMO LO UNICO QUE SE ME OCURRE ES QUE ENVIUDO Y SE VOLVIO A CASAR.( RECUERDA QUE EN ESOS TIEMPOS QUEDABAN VIUDOS MUY JOVENES PORQUE SUS ESPOSAS SE MORIAN EN EL PARTO)
Y BUENO YA NO QUIERO ESCRIBIRTE DANDOTE OTROS DATOS PORQUE ALOMEJOR YA LOS TIENES PERO SI QUIERES SABER QUIENES ERAN LOS PAPAS DE LAZARO GUTIERREZ Y THERESA XIMENES SOLO MIRA LAS ACTAS DE BAUTISMO Y AHI PROBABLEMENTE VA A DECIR EL NOMBRE DE LOS ABUELOS DE LOS NINOS. Y TAMBIEN CHECA EN EL REGISTRO CIVIL CON LAS FECHAS QUE TE DI Y ASI VAS A IR LLEGANDO A MAS PERSONAS EN TU LINEA.
DONDE VIVES? EN MEXICO O EN ESTADOS UNIDOS? Y TAMBIEN SI SABES A QUE ME REFIERO CUANDO DIGO MICROFILMS?
Y ES FACIL PARA TI CONSEGUIRLOS Y MIRARLOS?
BUENO AHI ME DICES OK?

Dear ALESSANDRO VITELA,
Many years ago you asked for the parents of Encarnacion Cervantes and Maria Nazaria Navarro
Jose Encarnacion Cervantes is the son of Juan Agustin Cervantes. i believe his mother is Maria Del Carmen (Carmel) Santa Cruz.
Maria Nasaria Navarro Napoles is the daughter of Juan Joseph Navarro and Juana Maria Napoles. She was baptized on 8/August/1779.
Maria Nasaria's brother, Jose Antonio Navarro and his wife Maria Feliciana Barragan are the godparents to one of Nazaria's sons.

I am including this email both to the group and to you. The
nuestrosranchos.org group is absolutely FREE. I have never asked anyone
to submit 14 generations and sometimes I've accepted as few as 1
Juan Andres:
As Joseph points out, you need not supply your entire genealogy in order to join the group. I think it is necessary for you to share part of it, however, in order for others to confirm whether they share the same lineages as you. Of course once you make that connection, you are free to collaborate as much or as little as you want with those individuals.
I have found that group members in general are very generous with their research, particularly with others who share their lineages.
To Juan
l have connected the Cervantes line to my other work on the enriquez de castillo line.
I also found that the two cervantes lines are actually two branches from the same trunk.
I only recently started looking at this branch again.
I descend from Juan de Villasenor Orozco and Catalina Cervantes y Lara Andrada.
Catalina's grandfather, Diego Cervantes, married to Guiomar de Tello is related to the other giant cervantes family. When the two cervantes joined in a marriage there was an acknowledgement of the bride's father that they come from two branches of the same cervantes family.
I would like to hear/see more of your family tree to see how it connects to my tree.
R.A.Ricci
RICCI:
I do have a CERVANTES branch in my tree and I'd like to know where is your Cervantes line from?. My branch is located in Ocotlan-La Barca Jal. area. I'd like to know if it matches with you. My ancestors in this family are:
Eduviges CERVANTES was born 1837 in Sta Clara, Ocotlan, married to Geronimo MACIAS.
Eduviges' C. parents were Miguel Cervantes (b. 4 Oct 1808 La Barca) and Ana Maria ZUÑIGA (b. 1817 Sta Clara, Ocotlan), married on 28 abr 1834 in Ocotlan
Grandparents were: Encarnacion CERVANTES and Maria Nasaria NAVARRO (HAVE NOT further info)
Ricardo Zuñiga and Rosalia Raso (married on 9 Jun 1816 in Ocotlan, Jal).
I´d like to know if you have these people in your database and can help getting more informaction of them.
Best wishes

Due to family health issues I am currently limited in continuing my work in genealogy. I am also a teacher and the beginning and end of the semesters are consumed by paperwork. I do have some information about the cervantes line that I am researching but not at the moment. the library that I use is also closed for at least 6 months due to renovation.
Sorry that I can't help you more at the moment

Joseph,
As you are aware, I became member of nuestrosranchos.org very recently. From
the little that I have seen so far, without doubt that my research has been
very limited. Specifically, I am counting in my family tree 218 individuals
with the Michel surname (me included) and only 5 with the Villaseñor
surname. About 70-80% (fortunately me included) are alive. These individuals
are scattered over 8 generations. Not all individuals for each of the
generations are fully identified yet. My ancestors were born in the state of
Jalisco, mostly Autlan de Navarro.
As you may conclude, without doubt I would be interested in contacting my
most-probably-relative Juan Andres Michel. But also without doubt that my
piece of sharing would not be commensurate with Juan Andres´.
When I was a kid I used to collect cards with Disney characters. After many
months of hard work my collection was almost complete, about 95%. Then I met
a girl who was starting her own collection, and she had the ones I needed
badly. Bottom line, I was able to complete my collection. You will surely
guess the morale of my story...
Saludos ¡¡

I have to smile at the thought of only submitting certain portions of my research in exchange for information from others. I don't know what part of Mexico is being requested for these lines. I do have Villasenor and Lopez de Lara from Zapotlan El Grande and Tamazula Jalisco. Since I've had problems with the gedcom I would suggest you check on Rootsweb.com where I submitted all my research in the hopes of helping others to reconnect with their ancestors. I hope I have something that will contribute to your research also. If not, then hopefully someone else will connect. Good luck in your search.

Joseph,
I meant to ask you if this is going to come down to making payments for
information. I hope not since I am willing to share my research on the
condition that they lay open theirs for me to see. As I told you
before, I have 14 generations of research on my father's side to share
but on an equal basis. Of most importance is the research on the
Villasenor/Cervantes y Lara ancestral line. If they have nothing on
this then I may have to reconsider because what I will make know has
been researched for many years by the Micheles of Jalisco under the
leadership Padre Salvadore Michel of Guadalajara a descendent of Pedro
Regalado Michel Corona. When you speak to the researchers ask them if
they can assist me with research on Villasenor/Cervantes y Lara
ancestral line which connects with Perez de Alencastre line that
connects with the Micheles of Tonaya and beyond. It is at this juncture
of my research, Villasenor/Cervantes y Lara that I am stymied and would
like to move on if possible. If they can help with this I am willing to
help them as well
Sincerely,
Juan Andres Michel
Hi,
Is any one out here researching the Delgadillo's of Aguatinta, Lo De Carrera, Nochistlán, Mechoacanejo y Teocaltiche? Or can Help us locate missing information?
Dear Sis,
You only provided limited information on this couple. Please provide more information as we may be able to see some clues that you may have missed. What are the names of their children, and what records do you have on them? Do you know of any siblings of Francisco and Ana Maria? I did find someone that may be your Ana Maria, but would need more information to see if they are the same person. The person I found was baptized in 1751 which may have been late since you say that she was born circa 1745.
Thanks,
R.A. Ricci
Hi SIS,
I notice there's a Francisco Delgadillo married to Anna Maria de Sandoval, who lived in Nochistlan. They baptized children in Jul 1766 & Feb 1773, while your Francisco Delgadillo and Anna Maria Ruiz baptized their children in Aug 1769, Jul 1771, Nov 1776 & Sep 1781. Chances are, they are the same couple. It wasn't unusual for women to use different surnames (usually a maternal surname), so you might want to track them; check which rancho their children were born on, and who the padrinos are, and see if they coincide with those of Francisco Delgadillo cc Anna Maria Ruiz.
Francisco Delgadillo married Anna Maria de Sandoval, 19 Sep 1765, Nochistllan: he was son of Diego Delgadillo cc Juana Marcela de Frias, and she daughter of Cristobal? Sandoval cc Anna Rodriguez.

Can someone please tell me if this church is Presbyterian? I can't read Spanish, and I have a lot of marriages and baptismal records for my family.
Hi Laurie,
What church are you referring to, you have not included a record? Do you mean Our Lady of the Assumption? That is definitely not a Presbyterian church. Any church that begins with Our Lady is a Catholic Church.

Log onto NR.
Sellect the "Files" menu option at the top of the page, then select "Member Genealogy Files." Select your name from the list, then select the "Edit" tab, and it pretty self-explanatory from that point.
You can add some text and upload any files you wish.

I had subscription to Ancestry since 2009 and fairly happy with what they offer. Their prices have doubled since 2009 when it cost $100 dollars a year and now its $300.00 a year. They partnered with Fold3 and Newspapers.com, these two are added to your ancestry account as part of the package. I already have the two mentioned as separate accounts with those companies. I purchase the 6 month Ancestry plan for $149.00 which still gives me full access worldwide records and Mexico. Since Ancestry recently added millions of new records, I have found many new exciting records on my ancestors. I think it's worth it for me since I've had much success with records from Mexico. AND you are correct that people seem only interested is the Espanol or royalty lineage. I've had a belly full of them. I now have my tree locked and require they contact me if they are serious about exchanging information. They are more afraid to admit they have mulato or black lineage. I'm talking about my own raza, the Mexican. They have turned their backs on me since I discovered our lineage has mulatos and possibly a black slave.
Winonade14,
What you say is so true. I found out that many folks are not interested in their genealogy, and they wonder why we want to go to court houses, libraries, cemeteries, etc.
I have received more help from several educated, articulate members here in Nuestros Ranchos that live in the area who have common ancestors than from any online websites. Those people are always willing to share their family trees. Those websites like Ancestry and even Family Search are more like repositories of documents. When those documents turn out hard to read, someone in NR is always willing to translate them for us.

Hi All,
I have some new info on Diego de Estrada who was married to Antonia Gomez de Espejo Velasco.
Diego Estrada-Bocanegra y Muñoz de la Barba Is the son of Pedro de Estrada-Bocanegra y Flores-Rubin and Ana Muñoz de la Barba.
Pedro is born in 1632 in Jalostotitlan. He is the son of Andrés de Estrada-Bocanegra and Luisa Flores-Rubin. Pedro's wife is Andrea Rodriguez-Becerra y Galindo. Pedro's children from Ana Muñoz de la Barba are illegitimate.
Luisa Flores-Rubin is the daughter of Pedro Álvarez de Montemayor and Anna Flores-Rubin.
Ana Flores-Rubin is the daughter of Conquistador Francisco Perez and Francisca Flores
Andres de Estrada-Bocanegra is the son of Bernardino Estrada (el Viejo) and Beatriz de Andrada Bocanegra
Bernardino Estrada-Bocanegra is the son of Conquistador Francisco de Estrada
Conquistador Francisco de Estrada is the son of Juan Sanchez de Estrada.
Diego Estrada-Bocanegra y Muñoz de la Barba may have been married twice. More research is needed to confirm the second marriage. Diego's first wife is Maria Antonia Gomez de Espexo
I have other Estrada-Bocanegra lines that I descend from.
R.A.Ricci
I descend from Diego de Estrada 1672-1752 and Antonia Gomez de Espejo 1674-1722.
Their son Juan Gomez de Estrada 1697-1744 m.1729 Maria Rubio 1709-1785.
Their son Juan Manuel Gomez de Estrada 1730-1781 m.1752 Francisca de Puga 17??-17??.
Sometime in the mid 1750's Juan Manuel Gomez de Estrada began using his mother's maiden name, Rubio. This name change begins to appear on their daughter's, Juana Gertrudis, baptismal entry in Tepatitlan dated 1759.
Thereafter, two of their sons began using the last name Rubio.
Joseph Domingo Rubio 1757-17?? m.1787 Ana Dolores Padilla 17??-17??
Jose Manuel Rubio abt.1764-18?? m.1785 Maria Josefa Franco 17??-1832.
Another son, Jose Ylario 1756-17??, continued to use Gomez de Estrada. He married Maria del Rosario Velsquez in 1779.
I descend from Jose Manuel Rubio and Maria Josefa Franco.
These Rubio's lived in Mariche and Rincon de Velsquez within the Tepatitlan area.
Their son was Jose Francisco Rubio 1785-18?? m.1814 Juana Maria Agapita Placencia 1796-1834.
To which they had Jose Gertrudis Rubio 1823-19?? m. Maria Eucevia Yniguez 1823-18??.
Jose Gertrudis Rubio seems to have picked up stakes and traveled below Lake Chapala. Some of his sons, one being Jose de la Luz Rubio 1854-1910? m.1879 Daria de Anda 1864-1899, went with him.
Jose de la Luz and Daria de Anda had children in Tizapan el Alto, Tuxcueca, Teocuitatlan and finally arriving in Atenguillo had their last three children there.
Jose Gertrudis Rubio and the rest of the family went to Talpa de Allende, where some Rubios still remain.
In Atenguillo, Jose de luz Rubio bought a 11 square mile ranch, Mestinas, on the plateau.
Jose de la Luz died around 1910 after drinking a bad batch of pulque.
The ranch was managed by his brother Marcos Rubio b.1849 for Jose de la Luz' son Jose Trinidad Rubio 1896-1970 (my paternal grandfather) until he was of age.
Jose Trinidad Rubio had lots of trouble dealing with some other local ranchers. There were repeated raids on his cattle and so forth.
One strange note: There was a group of de Estradas living in Atenguillo. They claimed to be related to the Rubios, but know one knew how or why. The Estradas were fiercely loyal to my grandfather. They were valiant, to the point of psychotic, killing/stealing rival ranchers cattle, engaging in gun battles, marring women of rival families (perhaps absconding with them)and even killings.
Eventually my grandfather moved to Nayarit in the 1950's. Not much was made there and they began coming to the states in the 1960's. Jose Trinidad Rubio died 1970 in Fullerton, Ca. Three months before my b-day.
Not knowing my grandfather, not being related to other Rubios I would encounter and the fact that this family is rather clashish and hush hush about the past is what made me investigate the family tree. Being a former employee of private investigation agency helped me piece together the tree with virtually no help up until the Diego Estrada block wall. Of which I am very grateful to all here for there assistance in helping me complete my tree so far.
Diego Estrada Bocanegra y Muñoz de Barba is the illegitimate son of Pedro Estrada Bocanegra and Ana Muñoz de la Barba.
Josefa Muñoz de la Barba and Juan De la Torre Ledesma y Palafox are the parents of Maria Ledesma (Aka Maria Gonzalez) and Antonia Ledesma. Both daughters are illegitimate as Juan de la Torre Ledesma is legally married to Isabel Marquez y Martin del Campo. It's taken many years to finally put this line together.
Ana Muñoz de la Barba and Josefa Munoz de la Barba are the daughters of Francisco Muñoz de las Barba and Catalina Gonzalez-Rubio (aka Gutierrez-Rubio)
Francisco Muñoz de la Barba is the son of Juan Muñoz de la Barba and Ann de Espindola II
Catalina is the daughter of Captain Francisco Gutierrez-Rubio and Anna Gonzalez Florida.
Thanks to Joe, Ruben, Simona, Steven (Paco) and Alexandro for helping with important pieces of the puzzle. It was a fantastic feeling to finally add the final pieces and put them together the past two days. Steven and Alejandro's contribution came many years ago but without their two cents I wouldn't been in position to put it together. Ruben's piece took me back another generation, and then Joe's piece (dispensa) added yet another generation. Going back and looking at my notes and a few dispensas on these families brought it all together.
Thanks again,

Dear Joe,
How are you related to Manuel Alvino de Losa & Maria de Jesus Cortes de Arteaga y Estrada?
I have more on their lines.
Thanks again,
Rick A. Ricci
Bartolome de Losa And Clara de Loza are first cousins twice. Their fathers are brothers and their mothers are sisters.
Bartolome is the son of Alejo Losa and Maria Ledesma (AKA Maria Gonzalez). (Bartolome is raised in Jalostotitlan)
Clara is the daughter of Antonio de Loza and Antonia Ledesma. (Clara is raised in Tepatitlan)
Since Maria Gonzalez (Maria Ledesma) and Antonia Ledesma are the daughters of Josepha Munoz de la Barba, and Josepha is the sister of Ana Munoz de la Barba, the mother of Diego Estrada, if we can find Josefa's parents from the clues that we have, then we will also have Ana's parents.

Dear Chris,
You were right about Beatriz Andrada Bocanegra. She does appear to descend from Gioumar Andrada and juan Gutierrez de Bocanegra. I also descend from Guiomar Andrada's sister through another line. It all came together today. I will continue to research to confirm these findings. This line hooks up with other research projects that I have been working on for the past few years, the Cavalleria, Bocanegra, Golluf/Sanchez, and Cervantes.

Mr. Ricci,
Do you know who the parents of Juan Gutierrez de Bocanegra are.
Danny C. Alonso
I do have parents for Juan Gutierrez de Bocanegra but from a secondary source. I am still looking for more evidence to make sure before posting their names.
Hello Danny:
In the web bisabuelos.com Mr Cano made one Apendix IV named "De la Louisiana A la Nueva España", in the part Los Gutiérrez de la Caballería, Juan Gutierrez de Bocanegra was the son of Diego Gutierrez de la Caballería y Flores de Guevara and Isabel Mexia de Bocanegra, born in Ciudad Real, Spain.
The font of this chapter is the end of the page.
Marcelina
Marcelina,
i think that's right. I typed in juan Gutierrez Bocanegra and Diego Gutierrez de la Caballeria in google and it gave me these results:
https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#tbm=bks&q=Juan+Gutierrez+de+Bocanegr…
the book "Ameca, protofundación mexicana: historia de la propiedad" only gives you a snippet view, but the sentences in the preview looks like it almost confirms that. when you click on the book it shows you there's a connection to Alonso de Avalos, that's another Avalos, Bocanegra and Villasenor connection
Danny C. Alonso
Dear Marcelina and Danny,
Most secondary sources make the same claim that they are his parents, but for a while I believed that they may be grandparents of Juan Gutierrez Bocanegra. The claim that they are his parents is not possible according to the dates that some of these secondary sources use.
I now believe that the dates that some these sources have are mistakes as I now believe that Diego is the father of Juan since Clara and Juan are identified as siblings,, that Juan was born in Spain before his family traveled to Nueva Galicia and that his sister Clara was born very soon after their arrival. There is a third sibling named Marcos. I am not sure where and when he was born.
Guiomar Andrade Villasenor and Juan Gutierrez de Bocanegra are the parents of at least three boys and two daughters. The daughters are Beatrice Andrade Bocanegra and Magdalena Andrade Bocanegra. Magdalena became a nun. Is this Beatriz Andrade Bocanegra the same one that I Have been looking for? I believe so but more research is needed for confirmation. Mr. Victor Cano Sordo lists her as a nun like her sister. I believe that Victor Cano Sordo may be mistaken and that only Magdalena is a nun. Victor Cano Sordo provides much information, I need more time to study his work as there is much to process.
The Gutierrez de la Cavalleria y Bocanegra's ancestry have very long and interesting histories. One branch of the family is Jewish with a long history of Rabbis in the family. Two other branches have a long history of service in the Roman Catholic Church. These two catholic branches were actually political rivals in Italy and provided many priests, cardinals, and Popes.
An interesting part of the family was a converso couple who were "very good Catholics" six days of the week. On the seventh day they observed their families "Jewish traditions". While they were alive, no one accused them of still practicing the Jewish faith. It was only after they died that they were put on trial for their seventh day actions and prayer.
Thanks,
Rick A. Ricci
Dear Marcelina and Chris,
Both couples, "Alonso Perez de Bocanegra and Beatriz Jaramillo y Andrada" and "Guiomar de Andrada Villaseñor and Juan Gutierrez de Bocanegra" have daughters named Beatriz Andrada Bocanegra.
Although it is possible for Bernardino de Estrada's wife Beatriz Andrada Bocanegra's parents to be Guiomar de Andrada and Juan Gutierrez de Bocanegra, deeper research has not yet identified for certain who her parents are.
A close connection also exists between the Cervantes Andrada family and the Jaramillo Andrada Bocanegra family. I have not found any conclusive evidence for Beatriz's parents. Both families were very closely related through both the Andrada and Bocanegra lines. Not only were they closely related, but they had a lot of contact and interacted with each other. Both had the rich Beatrice Andrada Cervantes as an aunt.
Aunt Beatrice Andrada Cervantes's first husband, Juan Jaramillo "el Viejo" was an uncle to Juan Jaramillio "el mozo". There is a possibility that Beatriz Andrada Bocanegra is the Beatriz that is daughter of Alonso Perez de Bocanegra and Beatriz Jaramillo y Andrada.
The reason to believe that Juan Gutierrez de Bocanegra and Guiomar de Andrada Villaseñor are her parents because it is stated that they left many descendants in the Jalisco area of Nueva Galicia.
The reason to believe that Juan Gutierrez de Bocanegra and Guiomar de Andrada Villaseñor are not the parents of Bernardino de Estrada's wife is because Mr. Cano states that this Beatriz Andrada Bocanegra and a sister lived a religious life (nun).
Mr. Cano may be mistaken. For example, In my search for Isabel Mendoza I found two Isabel Mendoza Velasco's that were said by some historians to be nuns. Further research showed that only the niece was a nun and that the aunt with the same name did not enter the convent. The historians had erroneously used the same source for both of them.
No marriage is mentioned for Beatriz.
Both families have ancestors that are in the Gutierrez de la Cavalleria and Bocanegra families.
Both families also descend from the Andrada/Andrade family. We can use this information to look for clues to this families ancestry.
Gracias a Chris y a Marcelina por ayudarme.
Thank you,
Rick A. Ricci

Hola Ricardo:

Here is an interesting fact on Francisco Estradas sister
Estrada, Maria - From: Seville. Father: Juan Sanchez de Estrada.
Sister of Francisco, she came to the New World 1519 where she joined
her brother in Cuba. One of 15 Conquistadoras to join in the conquest.
Married Captain Pedro Sanchez de Farfan and settled in
Mexico. It was said "She could hold her own with any man with weapons,
either on horseback or on foot".
On another post.

Beatriz Ananda Bocanegra is named as Beatriz Nunez Bocanegra.
I read about one never mentioned her name but they said she could hold her own against any other conquistador. Anyone know the other names of the 15. sounds very interesting thanks for the FMI
They are all named in Hugo Thomas' book, "Who's Who of the Conquistadors."

Thank you George for the info.

do you know how these peopple connect to Teresa de Estrada y Bocanegra thats married to christobal de Alba

Luciano Lomellini is named in a will of his brother Napoleone Lomellini in 1587.
They are the sons of Paolo Vincenzo Lomellini and Caterina Spinola
Luciano Lomellini Spinola , one of the two primary candidates to be Luis Lomellin who traveled and lived in Mexico is a sixth cousin of Christopher Colombus. There are other relationships but this is the closest that I have calculated so far.
Through another of Luciano Lomellini Spinola family line, he is a sixth cousin to Christopher Colombus's stepmother (Bartolommeo Colon's biological mother)
There is a much closer relationship that needs much more explanation as to its veracity than there is room here. There are numerous chapters explaining how this is possible in the book that I am presently writing. This book will be published soon.
The more I research the possible Luis Lomellini candidates, the more connections I find between Christopher Colombus and the Lomellini/Spinola families of Genoa/Portugal
R A Ricci
The Lomelin subject is getting serious now--this is really good. What we need to do is gather all this information and combine it with what Steven Hernandez Lopez found and continue to go forward. We need to start piecing things together and find the irrefutable documents to establish the Lomelin family of Mexico with that of the Noble House of Genoa. Interesting enough, I am also related to the Spinola family on a different line, I also wonder if the Sicala mentioned above is related to my Diego di Sicala ancestor who was a master organist and settled in Guadalajara in the XVIII century, he later changed his name to Sigala. He married Ana Maria de Paz y Castro in Guadalajara on 11 Feb 1619 son of Antonio di Sicala and Rosa di Palas natives of Naples.

Please send me your Spinola line and I can tell you how it connects to what I am working on. I sent an email Steven Hernandez Lopez just yesterday.

I think there is an actor surnamed Segal who speaks Spanish. Maybe he is also a descendant?

Emilie,
My 4th Great grandmother was Maria Rafaela Sigala, Duran, from Hacienda de
Tlachichila in Nochistlan, Zacatecas, but I haven't done much research on
this branch of my family. She married Jose Rafael Olmos Ruiz also from
Hacienda de Tlachichila on 5 Junio, 1815.

I've looked into this person and cannot find much information on him. Where can I look to get past his parents Antonio and Rosa? I'd like to see where this branch extends. I am related through the Camarena branch.

The probable and possible Luis Lomeli are all named Luciano Lomellini. Not one of them is named Luigi Lomellini.
R A Ricci
The probable and possible Luis Lomeli are all named Luciano Lomellini. Not one of them is named Luigi Lomellini
The Lomellini family of the 13th,14th, 15th, 16th, 17th, and 18 th centuries, names some women Luigia but did not call the men Luigi. The Italian versions of Luis during this time period, among the Lomellini were Luciano, Luchino, Luchetto, and Luca. There were many named Luciano Lomellini.
There are two Luigi Lomellini in the 19th century. They are first cousins. There is one Luigi Lomellini in the fifteenth century that cannot be our Luis Lomelin.
R A Ricci
Even though Carlo Lomellini and Luciano Lomellini Spinola are fourth cousins, they both have close family, second cousins and uncles that are in contact with each other's more immediate family. Their families both share business interests with Marco Lomellini Lomellini. Marco Lomellini had children that through marriage continued bringing separate branches of Lomellini together.
Marco Lomellini e Lomellini descends through his mothers branch of Lomellini from Napoleone Lomellini and Teodora di Negro.
This is also the closest relationship that fourth cousins Carlo and Luciano have. Before Napoleone Lomellini, the Lomellini families had some money but Napoleone was the first extremely wealthy Lomellini. Napoleons sons were involved in his business transactions and had to follow the rules left in his will. The original will is no longer in existence but transcriptions of it still exist. The directives in the will were meant to keep the family together. Working together and sharing in the fruits of their labor and inheritance throughout the ages. Leonello is Napoleones oldest son and heir. He had a son named Matteo, Marcos maternal grandfather. Marco took after his Great grandfather Leonello and his great great grandfather Napoleone in wisely choosing his business investments and in sharing many of these interests with family members, even distant family members. Marco also had some business interests with the di Negro family which was also related to him through His great great grandmother Teodora di Negro, Napoleones wife.
Luciano Lomellini descends from Leonellos brother Goffredo Lomellini (grandfather to the other Goffredo Lomelli that was Luciano's grandfather) who also worked in his fathers, business. Luciano also descends from the Spinola family and another rich family the Della Volta. The Volta family rubbed some of the other aristocratic families the wrong way as they were the first to try and corner certain markets like Marco and other Lomellini would do decades and centuries later.
Goffredo's wife, Luchina Lercari, descends from another big time respectable businessman who made it big, but this one made it big when he was disrespected mightily and decided to become a pirate and exact his revenge. He went back to being a respectable businessman, only much wealthier from his successful venture as a pirate. Revenge was sweet for him. His fame has become legend in Italy that some have even wondered if the stories are true. Little stories have been added over the years but the main story is true. This pirates wife had children from a first marriage that would have descendants (Calvo) that were business partners with Marco Lomellini and Giovanni Battista Lomellino ( son of Cosimo Lomellini/ Lomelino). Cosimo's sons Giovanni Battista Lomellino and Urbano Lomellino became rich by associating themselves with Marco Lomellini. So did the Calvo family.
There is a Francisco Lomelino (Francesco Lomellini) that was abducted and forced to work as a slave ( one record I saw said Turkey while another said Northern Africa ) this Francisco is the ancestor to many of the Lomelino family that still lives in Portugal. The problem is that there is a false family tree online that places Francisco with different parents. I am trying to figure out which one is the correct line. They may both be correct and one Franceso Lomellini was held as a slave in Turkey while the other Francesco Lomellini (Francisco Lomelino) was a slave in North Africa.
If anyone is looking to name a child after an ancestor they should choose Napoleone, Leonello, Paolo Vincenzo, and other wonderful names. I would avoid naming a child Francisco Lomeli with the history of Francisco Lomellinis being abducted into slavery.
Since Carlo Lomellini (Carlos Lomeli) also descends from Napoleone Lomellini, This makes his father, Vincenzo, part of this extremely wealthy family.

I just saw a document in PARES dated ago-16th-1541 where Juan Antonio Brambilla is given permission to bring two black slaves to Indias, and in the same document another Genovese : Tolomeo Spindola "Ginovese" is given the same permission for another two slaves.
I guess this is nothing new but confirms that some of this "American" Genoveses were not unfamiliar with slave trade, and that they had the means to do that.
Regards
Carlos Peredo
Also in PARES there is a document dated 1538-5-3 in Valladolid ordering that the 25,000 ducados that Francisco Lomelí (ó Lomelín), Genovés be coined immediately.
By the way, the master person charged with the "coinage" and all things related to precious metals in México City at that time was a "Membrilla" who was designated directly by the King (this document is also in PARES) , this "Membrilla" was probably another Genovese.
Regards
Carlos Peredo
The document that covers the 25,000 ducados that Francisco de Lomelín brings is not shown in PARES, but reading again the record about that document I now understand that the gold was to be coined in Burgos, not in Mexico City, so that Gold may have been from The Indias mines
Jose Ignacio Anaya Gomez I am descendant Don Juan Antonio Brambila as many of our friends. around here. would be so kind as to tell me where or how? I can search on this topic. of Pares

Estimado Ignacio,
http://pares.mcu.es/ParesBusquedas/servlets/Control_servlet?accion=2&tx…
Que dicho Juan antonio Brambila debió llegar a las Indias alrededor de la fecha en que recibe permiso de traer dos esclavos (16-ago-1541);
Cordialmente
Carlos A. Peredo
Luis and Carlos Lomelin and their immediate descendants in Mexico never shortened their name to Lomeli.
They shortened it to Lomelin. I, like many other genealogist, occasionally erroneously call them Lomeli. By the middle of the 20th century, most of the descendents have changed the name to Lomeli but this was not true in the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries.

Does anybody know of any books with information on Luis Lomelin?
St. Catherine of Genoa is the daughter of Giacomo Fiesco and Francesca di Negro. Some times St Catherine's mother is listed as Adorno but I do not know if this is a mistake or if Francesca went by two last names. St Catherine was married to an Adorno which may have contributed to the confusion.
St Catherine' of Genoa has a grandmother named Margharita Adorno

I have the following ancestors, that I located on FHC IGI files -
Maria Seberiana Mora, place of birth: Guadeloupe, Caribbean daughter of Nicanor Mora y Josefa de Robles. I have not located a birth record for Seberiana. She (age 18) married Jose Victorio de la Trinidad Salamanca (age 29) on 07 Oct 1840 - Parish Santa Maria Mecatabasco, Villa Del Rufugio, Zacatecas. No birth record for 'Trinidad," has been located either. On their marriage IGI Trinidad's place of birth is Guadalupe De Juanacatis,,,Mexico. 1). Where is Guadaupe De Juanacatis (in Mexico or Carribbean?)
Pat, just wanted to share that I've found some places in Jalisco listed in the Caribbean too. They were from San Vicente, district of Tamazula Jalisco but the transcriber for the history center sent them to the Carribbean. They were laborers so I don't really think they had the time or money to go Island hopping. When I checked online I found all the baptisms for them for San Vicente were listed as Caribbean and not Jalisco.. I have to admit, I did find it exciting to think they had been born on an Island and baptized in Tamazula 5 days later! .

I found it pretty exciting too.... hoping that it was just one stop closer to a Spain connection. With Arturo's computer smarts, and Alicia perseverance in finding Juanacatic, I now know that Juanacatic and Guadalupe were not Caribbean towns, where Tino's ancestors were baptized.
The Cubas' publication is a fountain of information. Pat

Hola.

Where is Guadaupe De Juanacatis (in Mexico or Carribbean?)
2). Was there a migration period during the time frame of 1821 to 1840 from the Caribbean Islands to Mexico ? Or is this an example of FHC indexing error?
Thank You,
Pat
Maria,
I neglected to mention that I will order Film # 0443906," informacion matrimonial," for the 4 Feb 1877 marriage. Hopefully that marriage will appear on that film supplying additional information to confirm my extending of this line. The film that I actually viewed (#0443974) was for "matrimonios," only, and contained very little information. Pat

Hello, Cousins.
Recently saw in my inbox a discussion on the Leal de Ayala family. Don't know how to respond via that method, so I'm posting my comments on this forum.
Dear Mary Lou,
I did not have this valuable information. After I finish my Esparza book, I will get to work on trying to extend those lines.
Thank you,
Rick
